9 Virtues Blog

Welcome to the 9 Virtues Blog!

by Karl Haden and Rob Jenkins

10/23/2015

Thanks for stopping by. Our new book, The 9 Virtues of Exceptional Leaders: Unlocking Your Leadership Potential, isn’t out quite yet—November 20 is what our publisher is telling us. But our website is up, so we thought we’d go ahead and start blogging.

“We,” by the way, refers to Dr. Karl Haden and Rob Jenkins, the authors of The 9 Virtues. Karl is president and CEO of the Academy for Academic Leadership, an Atlanta-based organization that specializes in leadership training and development for the higher education, non-profit, and for-profit sectors. (Don’t let the name fool you: AAL is about more than just “academics.”). Rob is a college professor, a writer for The Chronicle of Higher Education and other publications, the author of two previous books, and an AAL Fellow. Karl and Rob are long-time associates with very similar values and beliefs about leadership—hence the co-authored book.

We’ll talk more about the book—what it’s about, how it came to be, and what we hope it accomplishes—in a later post, once we’re a little closer to the publication date. In the meantime, we’re going to go ahead and start using this blog to share some of our thoughts and experiences as leaders and as leadership facilitators in hopes that some of what we say will resonate with you, our readers—that you can find and take away tidbits that will make your life easier, your work more rewarding, your organization happier and more productive.

Since both of us have written extensively on leadership and related topics, even beyond the book, we’ll periodically be posting links to our past articles. We also plan to post original content developed just for this blog, articles from other noted leadership experts, and occasionally, perhaps, a short excerpt from the book.

We appreciate your reading this and hope you’ll come back often. Until then, we wish you the best in all your endeavors.

Oh, and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, if you haven’t already, for updates and great leadership quotes: @AAL_ELI. See you soon!
